Have you ever been driving or riding a bicycle and lost sight of the direction you are heading in? Have you noticed that one slight turn of the wheel can cause you to veer across the lanes and even off the road completely? This same thing—as some of you know—can also happen to us when we lose sight of Jesus and the calling He has on our lives. Speaking from personal experience, in 2020 it was easy for most of us to get distracted by all the news buzzing around online, television, social media, work break rooms, and anywhere else where people were having open discussions.
Many of us were caught up in the latest pandemic updates, the election, the violence in parts of the world, the division among people from all walks of life and so much more. What did it do to many of us? It caused us to lose sight of what is important, for me at times it pulled me away from focusing on The Lord and the direction He had me going in. It’s so easy at times to get sucked into negativity and the things of this world when really, we should try each day to lay all our worries and concerns at His feet and move forward. My word for you today and beyond is “Focus” just as the Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:1-2:
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”
Think about the things of heaven, new life with Christ, and where Christ sits at God’s right hand. Then “Focus” on His plan for your life and stay with it. Whenever you feel the tug from the world to turn on the news or get caught up in the latest drama, dig out your Bible or pray and ask God to help you ignore the distractions. God bless and Love to you ALL.
